It feels particularly good to get affirmations about certain things. Like when you see a star player sit on the bench as his team crumbles in front of him in a playoff game and you just get that feeling deep down in your stomach, like you just at a bad deviled egg. Then years later you hear something, I don’t know, something as ridiculous as that same player labeling himself with ink of his NFL teams.
If you’re thinking of LaDanian Tomlinson you’re spot on.
Can't you just see the pain in his eyes as Dr. Pure rips him... again.
It’s not that I’m a Broncos fan and he was Charger. It is that he is a selfish, no-good, over the hill, stuck up fool. He was quoted in a press conference after a playoff loss saying, “I’m a classy player”, and also said “They take after their coach [Pats coach Bill Bellichick]”. There is nothing more classy than picking a fight after a game, leaving the field forgetting to shake hands with your opposing number and then call out the other teams coach for what his players do. Oh yeah, nice.
Now, in the latest installment of Tomlinson’s Theatrics he got the J-E-T-S logo on his calf. And its not the first time he’s done this. Already on his left calf is the Chargers Lightning Bolt (2001-2010) in honor of his nine years there. That’s something you joke about doing in the sauna at the NFL Combine as you wait to get drafted, not actually do it.
But if you don’t believe me take a look for yourself.

[And I refuse to refer to LaDanian Tomlinson as LT, because there is already and LT and you have to earn an acronym. MJ, OJ, TD, TO.]
Do you think his production will be over or under 500 yards this year? The past three seasons the decline has been in the 300 yard range so I'm just curious. Greene came on in the playoffs last year and they drafted two young running backs in the 4th and 5th rounds. Plus, I see the Jets throwing the ball a little more with the maturation of Sanchez and the addition of the always in trouble Santonio Holmes. Therefore, I don't see him doing too much except annoying me like he has for 9 seasons now.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't comment normally like your mom suggested, but I cannot stand Tomlinson.
As much as I hate to say it I think he will get over 500 yards this year. Last year 43 players broke the 500 yard barrier. And the NY Jets ranked highest in rushing yards and attempts, which is not going to change with Rex running the show.
ReplyDeleteShonn Greene will got the boat load of the carries, nothing surprising there. Joe McKnight is still a rookie even though his beard may say otherwise. And sadly, LaDanian will get just enough carries to surpass half a thousand, but by the end of the year he might need to find some more room on his calfs cause he's not going to be in NY long.
You are a big dumb animal. How can you make some gigantic closing argument about how you have to earn your acronym nickname and then ruin your entire article by mentioning T.O. Really? Mr. Crazy and Selfish Owens is more deserving of an acronym than Tomlinson? LaDanian will go down as one of the top five best running backs of all-time and really was a pretty classy, respected guy around the league. And while I was a huge Lawerence Taylor fan, be careful who you so strongly deem the real L.T. With rape allegations hanging in the air...
ReplyDeleteLT (Lawerence Taylor) is the single most intimidating figure to EVER play in the NFL; his off the field antics take away what us young kids know about him. His on-the-field prowes is so great it would make Ray Lewis want to be an atler boy again. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteAnd T.O. is going to go down right there with Jerry Rice as one of the greatest recievers to ever play the game. And the only reason we hang around and pay attention to him during the off season when there are team/contract disputes is because of his talent and ability to the play the game. i.e. Brett Favre, for how much I can't stand the guy he can play the game at a high level. For how loud TO is his stats are quietly becoming HUGE, and he's got 4-5 years left in him. (Granted he gets out of god-awful Buffalo). TO is earning his acronym with numbers and, of course, all the decline situps he's done over the years.
Finally, lastly, ending on Mr. Tomlinson. He is not one of the five best RB's to ever play, not even close. (Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown, OJ Simpson, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, Erik Dickerson, Marcus Allen) After that list there is not much to say. He should NOT, will NOT, can NOT be in the same conversation as these players. He is not an every down back, he is not a between the tackles back, and in the close, nail-biting game you know where you're going to find him, on the bench with his tail between his legs. 75% of his touchdowns have come inside the 10 yard line, behind a stacked offensive line.
Fourth and 1 on the 1, closing seconds of the Super Bowl, you get in you win-you don't you lose... Who are you giving the ball too???
