After the not-so-radical firing of coach Scott Downing (9-47 while in Greeley) the Bears have been in pursuit of the next head man. The coach that will hopefully bring back the winning formula and the programs luster that occurred in the late 1990’s.
The names initially on the list included Earnest Collins (head coach at Alcorn State), Bill O’Boyle (Chadron State), Dave Logan (Mullen) and Mike Breske (defensive coordinator Montana). But the time taken by the search committee and ‘secretive’ interviews has led to some disapproval from pundits and candidates alike.
The UNC job could be a perfect platform for the coaches. There are fantastic facilities, thanks in part to the Denver Broncos who hosted training camp there for many years, and the new coach has the ability to completely rebuild a program from the ground up.
And the new coach is…..
EARNEST COLLINS.
I like this hire. Despite UNC's best efforts to fail in the search for a coach, they have gone out and hired the right guy. I say that, because it would have been a huge mistake to hire a guy from D2, let alone a high school. To cut ties from D2 is what we have been trying to do for the past 5 years, and with this hire, we not only get a guy who has not been at D2 schools, but has had success. He also has recruiting connections outside the state of Colorado, which I hate to say, doesn't have the type of athletes we need to bring home the Big Sky Championship. We need D1 talent both in our coaches and our players. And definitely not high school coaches who appear to be successful, but coaches at a private school and hasn't beat a good team outside the state of Colorado. Great Hire.

Keep responding. It helps DR Man - oops - lost track of my super heroes there again - DR Pure. Plus, it is good to read responses with some pertinent thought behind them.
